The Benefits of Bi-Naural Beats

Nearly fifty years ago, Robert Monroe started to develop frequency-laced music that facilitated an innate ability in all humans to synchronize both hemispheres of the brain. He successfully studied the behavior of binaural beats and for some small test groups, used his sound technology to help focus the listener to achieve a specific desired mental state.

This audio technology is based on a process known as binaural beats, a process that helps the brain to balance its electrical activity between two hemi-spheres.

In order to get this audio process to work well the listener uses audio tracks that are overlaid with binaural beat inducing frequencies to non-intrusively facilitate this natural sensory state.

For sleep deprived individuals, sequences of low frequency sounds that stimulate the brain stem and trigger delta brain waves when listened to, can help promote relaxation and clearer focus and eventually enhance sleep. Overlaying these frequencies with soothing sounds and spacial or ambient backgrounds (with some titles adding verbal guidance) provides variety to the experience. The audio process also allows listeners to use the programs for other benefits such a calming children down, meditation, and relieving stress.

How it Works

Barely audible binaural beats are naturally produced and occur when one ear receives a sound that is slightly higher or lower than what the other ear hears. The brain automatically processes these 2 tones into a third tone. Much research and clinical testing has confirmed that with this natural effect, the brain can be quieted for enhanced relaxation and sleep, empowered for focused concentration and mind performance, or uplifted to overcome sensory signals from the body to better cope with pain, fatigue, and disease.

Binaural beat audio input also benefits ADHD and developmentally challenged children and adults to be better integrated via the sensory input of the audio signals.

While binaural beats have already been mentioned as beneficial for creative thinking and meditation, they can also help the listener develop better sleeping habits which ultimately equate to a more productive and fulfilling lifestyle. Yet challenges will still confront the newcomer to this modality. Taking into account the various domestic and environmental issues in a listening environment that may hinder someone from receiving the full effect from binaural beats, it's mostly important for the listener to be free from any distractions.

Binaural beats are a versatile audio therapy, and they are pleasing to listen to, since they are barely audible.
